The State Corporation Commission of Virginia rejected yesterday George Rockwell’s bid for a charter for A.N.P., Inc., a revised title for his American Nazi party.
Earlier this year, the Virginia Legislature approved a law revoking a charter granted previously to the Nazi group. The law banned the use of the word “Nazi” or “National Socialist” in the name of any Virginia corporation.
Rockwell sought to get around the ban by applying for a charter for a group using the initials of his group. The word “Nazi” was not used in the group’s application for the new charter but it did appear in the text of the proposed charter.
