Sympathy for Jewish aspirations and sufferings was expressed here today by Viscount Simon, Lord Chancellor, addressing a meeting at which his wife, Lady Simon, was presented with a certificate attesting that her name has been inscribed in the Jewish National Fund’s Golden Book in Jerusalem.
“I am roused to the heights of indignation at reading the cruelties of the Nazi blackguards against the Jewish people,” Viscount Simon said. “I come to you with real sympathy for the aspirations for which you stand. I also come from a small race – the Welsh – and I, too, reflect how much the Welsh people had to fight for their rights and how much can be done by a national spirit determined to protect the members of its race.”
