B. Charney Vladeck, member of the Hias delegation to Europe, called yesterday on the British Home Secretary, Mr. Arthur Henderson, to discuss with him the problem of the several thousand Jewish refugees who on their way to America, were left stranded in the English ports on account of the new immigration law.
Negotiations are now under way with the British Government to allow a certain number of these refugees to remain in Great Britain.
Mr. Henderson stated to Mr. Vladeck that insofar as the problem of the emigrants came within the province of his activities, he would see to it that the refugees were treated in the most humanitarian spirit possible.
