The “hideous spectacle of Soviet anti-Semitism” has “aroused and incensed the American people,” the Voice of America declared today in broadcasts to people in all parts of the world. The broadcasts contrasted this development with the celebration of Brotherhood Week in the United States last week.
The Voice of America reported mass meetings protesting the Communist drive and the picketing of Soviet offices in New York. These demonstrations are not “mere negative protests against Stalin’s copying of Hitler,” the broadcasts said. “They are also proof that Americans believe in the essential dignity of the individual, and in the right of every human being to live in a society free from fear and oppression.”
