An official of the Volkswagen Foundation announced yesterday a grant of 2,200,000 marks ($560,000) to finance a research and exchange program between West Germany and Israel. The official said most of the grant would go to the Weizmann Institute at Rehovot to help finance basic research in physics and bio sciences.
The Foundation was set up by the Volkswagen company, producer of the Volkswagen automobile, one of the most successful of West Germany’s exports.
