The government of Latvia, headed by Premier Ulmanis, was defeated in parliament yesterday when a majority vote expressed lack of confidence in the government.

The defeat was caused by the vote of the Jewish deputies, who took an oppositional attitude in view of the rejection of the citizenship bill as a result of which many thousands of Jews resident in Latvia were placed in the position of “men without a country.”
