Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, arrived here from Israel to address a number of important meetings and to discuss various problems with French Jewish leaders. He will be the guest of honor at a luncheon tendered by Israel Ambassador Yaacov Tzur.
Replying to questions about the forthcoming visit to the Soviet Union of a delegation from the World Jewish Congress, of which he is president, Dr. Goldmann said the delegation would study ways of halting the assimilation of Jews in the USSR and of reviving the traditions of the Jewish faith. The delegation will appeal to the Soviet authorities to grant more rights to Jewish congregations and to establish Jewish schools and synagogues.
(In London, the executive committee of the World Jewish Congress discussed today the invitation from Moscow’s Chief Rabbi Solomon Schleifer to send a delegation to the Soviet Union. It was decided to place the matter on the agenda of the WJC European executive which convenes in Paris June 28-29).
