The Wahabi forces, following the conclusion of the truce with Ali, newly proclaimed King of Hedjaz, have withdrawn from the district of Mecca, towards Taif.
Further details were made known today concerning the abdication and the succession to the thrown of Emir Ali, eldest son of King Hussein and Commander in Chief of the Hedjaz army. The final cause which moved King Hussein to abdicate was the news that he received from London that Great Britain will not intervene in his favor in the fight against the Wahabis.
The Hedjaz Arab notables have demanded of King Hussein to renounce his thrown in favor of Ali. Hussein agreed to do so for the sake of peace, he stated. Emir Ali at first refused to accept. On Saturday, he agreed, under the condition that he will not claim any rights to the Moslem caliphate and that peace negotiations be started immediately with the Wahabis.
The abdication of King Hussein was warmly welcomed by the Indian Moslems, according to word received here.
