Kurt Waldheim, Secretary General of the United Nations, appealed today for “the immediate release of the Israeli athletes now being held as hostages” by Arab terrorists at the Munich Olympics. The appeal was contained in a message in which the Secretary General said he was “profoundly distressed” by the “dastardly act perpetrated against” the Israeli athletes.
