Secretary General Kurt Waldheim’s planned peace mission to the Middle East will not be affected by Israel’s interception of a Lebanese airplane, a United Nations spokesman said today. Waldheim is expected to return here from Eastern Europe on Sunday.
Meanwhile in Jerusalem, Israeli officials noted with contempt that Iraq had joined Lebanon in complaining to the Security Council over the Israeli action. They said the complaint came from a country which executed Jews publicly, where ministers are murdered in unsuccessful coups and whose Foreign Minister recently called publicly for the annihilation of Israel.
