Walter Gottheimer, chairman of the Jewish community in Bonn since 1950, has died at the age of 79. Born in Breslau, he was sent in 1938 to Buchenwald concentration camp and later to the Kurzbach and Gruental labor camps. He escaped in 1945 and went into hiding. In Bonn he was co-founder of the Jewish community. Mr. Gottheimer was decorated with the West German Order of Merit First Class, and received many other awards. He served on the German Jewish Council in Duesseldorf and the Christian-Jewish Committee.
