Walter N. Rothschild, a prominent philanthropist and leader in Jewish communal affairs, died in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va yesterday at the age of 68. A native of New York, Mr. Rothschild was a trustee of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies and a member of the executive committee of the American Jewish Committee. He was a former honorary chairman of the United Jewish Appeal and a director of the National Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds.
Mr. Rothschild was chairman of the executive committee of Federated Department Stores which operates department stores throughout the United States, including Abraham and Straus and Bloomingdale’s in New York City.
