A city-wide tribute to Brandeis University, highlighted by the proclamation of “Brandeis University Day” by Mayor Turner here, was paid here to the first Jewish-sponsored non-sectarian university in the United States.
The tribute included the presentation of special citations to Dr. Abram L. Sachar, president of the University, and George Alpert, chairman of its board of trustees. In attendance at the function held in the First Parish Unitarian Church were some 200 members of the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Lions, Kiwanis, Zonta and Exchange Clubs.
