Eight rabbis were ordained and twelve honorary degrees conferred today at the fiftieth anniversary convocation exercises at the Jewish Theological Seminary. More than 200 rabbis here for the Rabbinical Assembly convention participated in the academic procession.
Dr. Cyrus Adlor, president of the Seminary, urged the graduated to uphold “the ancient heritage of Israel and the modern heritage of America.” He expressed “complete confidence that the world will one day shake off its present evil excrescences.”
Felix M. Warburg, in an address, advised the young rabbis to develop an intimate relationship with their congregations. He expressed preference for “the old-fashioned pastor-rabbi who knows the members of his congregation” ever “the modern social worker who comes out only when appeals are to be made.”
