Warburg Warns U.S. Jews on Fate of 35,000 “now or Never” Immigrants to Jewish State

Edward M.M. Warburg, chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, warned here that the safety of 35,000 “now or never” Jewish immigrants who must leave for Israel immediately or remain where they are hangs in the balance.

Mr. Warburg issued his warning to 400 delegates and guests at the combined “West Central Regional Conference” sponsored by the J.D.C. and United Service for New Americans. He appealed for additional funds so that the agencies could continue their work of helping the emigration of Jews from European and Moslem countries to Israel.

Other speakers at the conference included Walter H. Dieringer, president of U.S.N.A.; Moses Leavitt, executive vice-chairman of the J.D.C.; and Arthur Greenleigh, executive director of U.S.N.A.
