“I want Young Judea to become immune to the frightful poisons of reaction that have affected the world. With a reckless abandon many of our young people in other parts of the world have turned to the revolutionary movements because there was no way to ameliorate the frightful conditions, and with a similar gusto have they embraced in other parts of the world the madness of Fascism.”

That was the advice given last night by Rabbi Samuel Wohl president of the League for Labor Palestine at the opening session of the four-day national convention of Young Judea being held here. About one hundred delegates attended.

“Our youth in this land,” he continued, “may not join either of two forces, but there is even here a more dangerous power, and that is the one of apathy and assimilation. The power is still great among us.”

Revisionism, he said, was non-Jewish and ugly.

He pointed out the importance of creating within Young Judea a group of picked youth, boys and girls who will be willing to subject themselves to disciplined service. Definite tasks shall be assigned to them, such as the carrying into the homes of their neighbors literature and information concerning Youth Zionist activities, and arousing the interest of all Jewish boys and girls in Zionism. Such activities as the Tsofim, the Palestine scouts, should be continued and supported.

Young Judea, he suggested, should sponsor youth libraries in the various Jewish communal settlements, and aid in the sports activities and athletic needs of the Poale Hatzoir of the young worker.

Rabbi David Polish, local chairman of the convention, presided at the session. Greetings were extended to Young Judea by Russell Eilson, mayor of Cincinnati, and Oscar Berman.
