While a group of spirited Jewish fighting men, representing the Maccabi Association, yesterday captured the boxing championship of the city in a series of contests with a Polish team, they’ll have to prove equally adept at verbal argument if they want to retain the championship.
Although the Jewish boxers gained a clear cut victory over their opponents, today they face the possibility of having that victory snatched from them as a result of racial prejudice. Polish sporting clubs resenting the fact that a Jewish organization holds the boxing laurels in the Polish metropolis, have lodged a bitter public protest against the situation.
