Medical examinations for Mohelim will be introduced by a decision of the executive of the Warsaw Kehillah, according to a project now under discussion.
The proposal was introduced as a result of a number of deaths and sickness due to unsuccessful circumcision operations.
According to the Kehillah’s plan, the Mohelim are to be examined by surgeons before they will be admitted to practice. It is also planned to introduce a classification of professional Mohelim and amateurs. The parents are to be asked to apply to the rabbinate for a Mohel.
