The authorities have permitted reopening of an office established by Jewish organizations to assist Jewish butcher thrown out of work by the law curbing practice of shechita, ritual method of slaughtering animals.
The office had been padlocked by the police about a fortnight ago. Its reopening followed energetic intervention by Jewish leaders who pointed out that the office aimed to organize constructive relief for thousands of families who had been dependent on the meat trade for existence.
