Myer Fedman, deputy special counsel to President Kennedy, was reported today to have given repeated assurance to Israeli officials here about the United States commitment to Israel and the Kennedy Administration’s understanding of Israel’s security and development needs.
The White House adviser, who returned to Washington today, was understood to have given those assurances to Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and to Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, in several meetings. He spent five days in Israel as a guest of the Weizmann Institute.
It was assumed that Mrs. Meir conveyed to the White House adviser Israel’s concern over threats to its security from the Egyptian military buildup and recent disclosure of rocket capability.
