A Jewish Community Council of Washington Heights was organized last Monday at a meeting called by Hon. Nelson Ruttenberg, deputy police commissioner and chairman of the welfare committee of the Y. W. and Y.M.H.A. of Washington Heights, at whose building the meeting convened.
The council plans to develop a cooperative organization of agencies engaged in Jewish religious, educational and cultural work in the Washington Heights district. Thirteen agencies were represented. The following officers were elected: President, Hon. Nelson Ruttenberg; vice-presidents, Rabbi I. Mortimer Bloom, Simon E. Osserman and Murray Rothenberg; secretary. Samuel S. Solender.
