Israel could greatly expand its economic development through low-cost nuclear power according to a report released today by the National Planning Association.
A study by the association developed conclusions that cheap nuclear power could make possible large-scale irrigation, development of mineral resources, and growth of industry in the Negev. The NPA report visualized development of new atomic-powered industrial communities in the Negev, opening the region to thriving towns and providing many thousands of new jobs.
The report on nuclear power and economic development in Israel was made by NPA’s research staff. It noted that Israel needs the cultivable land and mineral resources of the Negev to meet requirements of rapidly expanding population.
