High Commissioner Sir Arthur Wauchope left this morning on a three-day tour of the Galilee area in northeastern Palestine, which has been the scene of much Arab terrorism. Safed, where Jews are declared to be segregated and terrorized in a “pale” rivalling Czarist days in Russia, will be included in the tour.
Death sentences of six Arabs condemned for participating in last year’s disorders have been commuted to life imprisonment by the High Commissioner, it was officially announced.
The commutation was believed to have been issued by the Government in reciprocation for an appeal for calm issued last week by the Arab Supreme Committee.
