WAVELL AS GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING BRITISH FORCES IN PALESTINE AND TRANSJORDAN, TO REPLACE LIEUTENANT GENERAL JOHN GREER DILL WHO HAS BEEN IN COMMAND SINCE THE 1936 ARAB REVOLT. THE NEW COMMANDER WILL TAKE UP HIS APPOINTMENT AT THE END OF AUGUST.
