“We are confident that in the end we shall prevail in the war against Hitlerism and make the world safe for humanity,” Rabbi at the rally of the Staten Island youth division of the American Jewish Congress, held at the Temple Emanuel, Port Richmond.

“The Jew has realized that the fight he is waging against Hitlerism is no longer an individual battle, no longer a selfish struggle for self-preservation. Circumstances have now made him the champion of civilization against barbarism.

“The world’s Jewry today is like David of old battling against Goliath. In the historic struggle of ancient Israel against the Philistines the victory of little David over the apparently colossal Goliath settled the issue between the two peoples and David slew the giant with his own sword.

“Today the Jews of the world are representatives of all peoples in the war against a system of tyranny and cruelty that has no place in our lives.”
