“We will never enter into discussion with the outside world on the Jewish question because it concerns the preservation of our national strength,” Minister of Justice Frank declared today in a speech before the Hamburg Attorneys’ Association.
His statement is considered here as the German reply to the League of Nations and to Sean Lester, rapporteur on minorities to the League Council, whose actions earlier this week brought German treatment of the Jewish problem into the international forum.
Discussion regarding the Lester report and the action of the League Council on it are still occupying considerable attention in the German press. The Boersen Zeitung, a Government organ, today remarks that “It is regrettable that the League did not accept the first German assurance as sufficient”.
