Judging from Britain’s experience in Egypt and other countries, introduction of a representative legislative council in Palestine is a mistake, it was asserted today by Colonel Josiah Wedgwood, pro-Zionist Labor member of Parliament, in a letter to The Times.
He assailed the council, recently announced by High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, on the ground that it would sharpen differences within the community. Maintaining that the council machinery does not take cognizance of unsuccessful experiments elsewhere, Col. Wedgwood stated that now is the time for objections to be voiced against the plan.
