Col. Josiah Wedgwood, Laborite M.P., told a meeting of the Anglo-Palestine Club today that Palestine Jews would not be doing their duty unless they “make illegal immigration possible and in the end make it legal.” He said that if Tel Aviv’s 150,000 Jews wanted a ship in its harbor to land its cargo “no power on earth could stop them.” He condemned Britain’s “indifference” to persecution of Jews in Europe. Lady Reading presided at the meeting, which was also addressed by Mrs. Blanche Dugdale and Dr. Theresa Stoyer, of Vienna, who movingly depicted Jewish persecution there.
