A denial that he considered the plan of a Jewish army in Palestine premature, was voiced today by Col. Josish Wedgwood, pro-Zionist member of Parliament, in a press interview on his trip to the United States, from which he just returned.
Affirming that he had stated that the British Government could not be concerned at the present times with the post-war status of Palestine, Col. Wedgwood said: “If we had four divisions of Jewish troops in the Near East, we wouldn’t be so nervous about the Suez Canal. And we would have men who would fight like Judas Maccabeaus. Even now I urge that the people of Palestine should be armed so that their home guard could defend the country and the Jews.”
