exactly that when it says that “the Jews of America will not stand aside while anti-Semitic discriminations, especially in employment, are practiced in Rumania.”
OTHER COUNTRIES MAY HEED WARNING
Not only Poland and Rumania will take notice of the new winds now blowing in Germany with regard to Jewish rights but also, probably, the other countries where anti-Jewish propaganda is being subsidized with funds coming from Berlin. Only this month it was established by the police authorities in Buenos Aires that the Nazi organization in the Argentine which, among other things, was engaged in throwing bombs at synagogues, was financed directly from Germany. The same is true also with regard to Nazi organizations in South Africa. Even in the United States the Nazi-subsidized groups will no longer be in a position to develop their anti-Jewish propaganda to the same extent as before, when the press of the Reich will be compelled to let down on its Jew-baiting propaganda.
The tone given from Berlin this week to pacify the Jews abroad is therefore of great importance even if no full restoration of Jewish rights takes place in Germany. This tone will paralyze a good deal of the anti-Jewish activities in countries other than Germany. It will prevent the carrying out of anti-Jewish plans in a number of East European countries. It will find an echo also in Austria. It will teach certain governments to act more carefully with regard to the Jews than the Reich has acted.
