Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive, assured an audience at an Israel Independence Day celebration here that Israel was now definitely on its way to balancing its economy, but its problems were now mainly political. The celebration was sponsored by the United Zionist Council and the Herzl Year Committee here.

The gathering, which heard greetings from Montreal’s Mayor Jean Drapeau and Israel Consul General Yehuda Gaulan, was also addressed by Gedalia Zakiff, acting executive director of the Zionist Organization of Canada. Michael Garber, national vice president of the Canadian Zionist group, presided.
