Weizmann Deplores Tendency to Belittle Palestine As Haven

A comprehensive report by Dr. Chaim Weizmann, chairman of the Central Bureau for the Settlement of German Jews in Palestine, on agricultural, commercial, industrial and educational projects for German Jewish refugees in Palestine was received here yesterday from London by the United Jewish Appeal.

The rate of immigration of German Jews into Palestine remains the same as in 1933, when 11,000 entered, Dr. Weizmann declared in the report, which covers the period until May 31, 1934. There are now an additional 4,000 refugees in the country.

The Central Bureau, according to information, has placed 1,600 German Jews in agricultural work, built new houses for the accommodation of 1,500 people in various, settlements, assisted more than 6,000 refugees to find occupation in Palestinian industries, located 400 doctors and 200 lawyers, and provided for 700 children in various urban and rural centers.

Commenting on what he terms “fantastic projects” to settle refugees in other lands, such as Angola and South America, Dr. Weizmann declared:
