The Palestine Broadcasting System’s “vocal newspaper” program was devoted last night to Dr. Chaim Weizmann. Prominent speakers, including Mayor Israel Rokach of Tel Aviv, participated.
During the week-end the Palestine Journalists Association was host to Dr. Weizmann at a birthday celebration at the Press Club in Tel Aviv, after which the Zionist leader accompanied the newspapermen to a performance in his honor by the Habimah Theatre.
A birthday message from the Board of Deputies of British Jews was cabled here over the wires of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, which conveyed the message to Dr. Weizmann at Rehovoth, where he resides.
On the occasion of Prime Minister Churchill’s 70th birthday, which he observed on Friday, Dr. Weizmann “as one septuagenarian to another” sent Mr. Churchill a case of Rehovoth grapefruit.
