The amount of 200,000 Francs for the Palestine Foundation Fund was raised here last night at a reception given in honor of Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, who was detained here on his way to London on account of the British general strike.
The reception, which took place at the Hotel Continental, was attended by 300 prominent French Jewish citizens. Dr. Zadock Kahn, son of the late Rabbi Zadock Kahn and chairman of the Keren Hayesod, presided. Professor Victor Basch, Mr. Corcos, French author and organizer of the French Palestine Committee, Dr. Filderman, president of the Zionist Federation of France, Mr. H. Zlatopolsky and Mr. Ascher addressed the gathering.
Dr. Weizmann in his address stated that the most important problem of Palestine today is that of immigration. “Our relations with the Arabs are now much better,” he stated.
