Dr. Chaim Weizmann, former president of the World Zionist Organization, was re-elected president of the English Zionist Federation yesterday. His election was uncontested.
The Federation adopted a resolution condemning the projected establishment of a Legislative Council in Palestine. Another resolution expressed regret that the Palestine Government has failed to grant the full quota of immigration certificates requested by the Jewish Agency.
The conference, which opened on Saturday evening and resumed on Sunday concluding with a mass meeting attended by a thousand people, was addressed by Dr. Weizmann; D’Avigdor Goldsmid, president of the British Section of the Jewish Agency and Dr. Selig Brodetsky, member of the World Zionist Executive in charge of political affairs. Two hundred delegates attended the conference.
Dr. Weizmann, in two lengthy addresses, appealed for wider support for the Keren Hayesod and discussed the present Zionist position in the light of the crisis in world Jewry.
