Dr. Chaim Weizmann will head a special delegation of Jewish leaders from Palestine which will present to the three-day national conference of the United Jewish Appeal, opening at the Chelsea Hotel in Atlantic City on Saturday, reports on the present situation in the Jewish homeland and describe the role which Palestine can play in the survival and the reconstruction of the uprooted and displaced Jews of Europe, it was announced today.
Present conditions in war-ravaged Europe among the 1,250,000 Jewish survivors will be described by leading representatives of European Jewry who are now also on their way to the United States to address the conference. Together, the European, Palestinian and American representatives will draw up a blueprint of immediate and largescale action to be carried on by the agencies of the UJA.
Every aspect of the situation of Jews in all parts of the world will be considered at the conference. Earl G. Harrison, American member of the Inter-Governmental Committee on Refugees, who investigated conditions in the displaced persons camps at the request of President Truman, will be among the principal speakers at the parley.
