President Weizmann of Israel will participate in the celebration of the first anniversary of the state of Israel which will be held in this city Wednesday afternoon under the auspices of the American Zionist Emergency Council. The President will be accompanied by Mayor William O’Dwyer who will also participate in the monster public rally in Madison Square Park.
Scheduled to address the afternoon meeting are: Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog of Israel; Dr, Abba Hillel Silver, chairman of the American Zionist Emergency Council; Ted O. Thackrey, former editor and publisher of the New York Post; Dr. Emanuel Neumann, President of the Zionist Organization of America; Mrs. Moses P. Epstein of Eadassah; Rabbi Joseph Lookstein of the Mizrachi Organization of America; Dr. Berl Frymer of the Labor Zionist Organization of America; Hayim Lubinski of the Zionists-Revisionists of America; Chaim Gunner of Hashomer Hatzair; and Yehudah Tyberg of Achdut Haavodah-Poale Zion.
Wednesday evening, the Council will sponsor a concert celebration at Carnegie Hall which will feature a concert by 75 members of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Izler Solomon, conductor of the Columbus Philharmonic Orchestra. Dr. Silver, Aubrey S. Eban, Israeli representative to the United Nations, U.S. Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., of Massachusetts, and U.S. Senator Paul H. Douglas, of Illinois, will address the audience.
