A petition charging Israel with “Nazi-like and barbaric acts” on the West Bank was signed by 300 persons in Nablus and sent to United Nations Secretary General U Thant, it was learned here. A copy of the petition was brought to the Nablus military governor by a 10-member delegation headed by Mayor Hamdi Kanaan. The petition said that the West Bank Arab residents had no means of expressing disapproval of the Israeli occupation except by strikes and demonstrations. Protests, the petition asserted, had been met by Israeli authorities with “further terror assaults on the demonstrators, curfews, imprisonments and, most recently, deportations.”
