Alan F. P. Moyler, a 35-year-old freelance commercial artist living near Westport, is under $11,000 bail today, after being arrested and arraigned on 16 separate charges of violating Federal and State laws by spreading and mailing anti-Semitic propaganda.
According to police, Moyler has been, for three years, mailing anti-Semitic materials, scribbling slogans in telephone booths and other public places, and sending dead rats in the mails to Jews in this area. Government handwriting experts traced the offensive materials to Moyler, police authorities said.
He has posted a $5,000 bond for trial in the U.S. District Court at New Haven, and is under another bond, of $6,000, awaiting a hearing in Circuit Court here on October 3. Moyler told police he is a British subject born in China.
