What is considered to be the first authentic despatch received by the Polish Embassy here from the Polish Foreign Office declares today that Marshal Jozef Pilsudski and President Stanislaw Wojciechowski are jointly in charge of the affairs of the state.

A despatch of the Polish Telegraphic Agency received here from Warsaw declares that Marshal Pilsudski will, duting the day, restore the normal situation in the Polish capital. The slow course of events was necessary because the Marshal desired to prevent unnecessary bloodshed.

The first official statement issued by Marshal Pilsudski and forwarded by the Polish Telegraphic Agency to Vienna declares that “the Marshal has no intention of instituting a military dictatorship in the Republic of Poland. but wishes to create a non-party government.”

The same despatches received here state that the Witos cabinet was interned in Wilanow in the vicinity of Warsaw.

Rail traffic has been suspended with a radius around the capital of 60 kilometers, where the forces of Marshal Pilsudski stop and disarm the adversary troops arriving in the capital.

During the anti-Jewish excesses which took place in Warsaw in Bank Square, Marshal Pilsudski, despatches received here state, sent emissaries to Wincenty Witos, asking him to issue instructions to the old government troops to extend protection to the Jewish population and to suppress the excesses.

The Polish newspaper of Lodz, “Lodzkie Wiadonosci,” published yesterday an interview with Marshall Pilsudski, which he granted following his entry into Warsaw.

“I have accomplished the overthrowal of the Witos government because the injustice of the Polish government circles reached unbearable proportions,” Pilsudski is quoted as having said. “I have never striven for power, but this time I was aggravated to the utmost. Besides, I am making no coup d’etat but an armed demonstration.”

Quiet prevailed in the Polish provincial towns, despatches received here state.
