The basis of peace between Jews and Arabs in Palestine lies in the White Paper of the British government, said Ameen Rihani, Arab intellectual and American spokesman for the Palestine Arabs, addressing a local gathering. Complimenting the Zionist aid in promoting the industrial and hygienic progress of Palestine, Rihani warned that there would be trouble if the British acted unwisely.
From the Arab point of view an amicable settlement will be reached when Jewish immigration is stopped and when both peoples cooperate in the formation of a joint assembly to govern the land, he declared. “Whatever happens, the Arabs do not forego the Pan-Arab dream of a country which has been theirs for the last 1,300 years,” the Arab spokesman stated.
