Discussing the question of the need for the maintenance of Jewish individual discipline in favor of the representative Jewish bodies who are in the midst of their work for German Jewry, the “Jewish Morning Journal” adverts to the call for a German boycott made by Aaron Sapiro in the English press. It says, “It is the duty of American Jews to reject the irresponsible statement made by Aaron Sapiro in the American press. Mr. Sapiro certainly has no mandate to talk in the name of American Jewry, or even in the name of any Jewish organization of importance. When Mr. Sapiro uses his easy approach to the American press which he has gained through a certain accidental circumstance and essays to play the role of a Jewish leader, Jewish public opinion should remind him of the old verse: “Who set the up as a chief?'”
