Why These Rackets Fail

The various Ku Klux Klan, Silver Shirts and Nazi rackets in the United States are short-lived. The reason why most of these adventures fail is that they are nothing else than money-making rackets. There is certainly not a vestige of idealism or conviction behind any of these schemes. They fail when the shekels of the deluded fools and dupes cease rolling in. And they also fail when they grow prosperous for a while. Then commences the conflict among the so-called leaders for the division of the spoils. They cannot survive the light of exposure. When the grafters and racketeers disagree among themselves, the racket is ended. When the truth about their motives and methods and aims becomes known, their source of income dries up.

When many of the deluded German Americans discovered that their so-called leaders were getting large funds from Germany for their propaganda in this country, while they themselves were asked to contribute to this Nazi cause, they have become not only disillusioned but also embittered.

Robert Edward Edmonson, an American who is publishing and trying to sell pamphlets exposing the American government by exposing the “United States Jewish Advisory Council,” says that “the Nazis, if they were in Washington, could do a better job than the present Administration.”

This is typical of the mentality of the people who are trying to catch fish by muddying the waters.
