Wider Agency Scope Urged by Warburg

The recommendation that the Executive of the Jewish Agency should not limit itself to political work alone but should establish contact with various Jewish economic bodies in Palestine and consult them on economic problems was made here today by Felix M. Warburg, Jewish leader and philanthropist, who is one of the pillars of the Jewish Agency, in a statement issued to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency prior to his departure after a three-day stay in Palestine.

A dinner in honor of Mr. Warburg was given here last night, at which the chiefs of all the departments of the Palestine government were present. Prior to the dinner, the Executive of the Jewish Agency held a special meeting at which Mr. Warburg was present. The members of the Executive acquainted Mr. Warburg with problems concerning the political and economic life of Palestine.

LAUDS PROGRESS

Mr. Warburg in his statement, issued just before he sailed, expressed the hope that no difference at all would be noticed in the future between Zionists and non-Zionists in the Executive of the Jewish Agency. While advising the Executive of the Jewish Agency to expand its activities to include the field of economics, Mr. Warburg emphasized in his statement that the number of members in the political department of the Executive should, however, not be increased.

“The progress of Palestine is amazing,” Mr. Warburg said in his statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “Thanks to the very understanding cooperation between the Palestine government which is headed by the charming and hospitable High Commissioner, Sir Arthur Wauchope, and the leading Jewish bodies, a feeling of confidence has been created in the country. This is very much to the credit of the government.
