Widespread starvation among Jews in provincial centers was reported today. Six thousand Jews in Hesse province were without sufficient food. In many instances “Aryans” were supporting Jewish friends, buying food and providing money for them.

The Nazi authorities have ordered resumption of activities by the Jewish Culture League Performances are scheduled for Tuesday. It is understood that of the 100 Jewish actors held in concentration camps, all needed for the performances will be released to justify Propaganda Minister Goebbels’ statement that Jews enjoy their own cultural life undisturbed.

The Juedische Rundschau, weekly organ of the German Zionist Federation, which was suspended with all other Jewish papers, was ordered to publish a single sheet weekly called “Jewish News” devoted to official announcements by Jewish communities, activities of Jewish organizations and Laws affecting the Jews.

Among the rabbis held in concentration camps since the pogroms of two weeks ago are Dr. Manfred Swarsensky, Dr. Alfred Jospe and Dr. Werner Vanderzyl, it was learned today.
