A woman taxi-driver, the first that Palestine has seen, appeared behind the wheel of a Te Aviv cab yesterday and attracted considerable attention even in this bustling, modern city.
The driver, Mrs. Zackheim, widow of the noted German-Jewish author, was unperturbed by the excitement her activities caused. She was nattily garbed in a blue and white outfit.
A cooperative group of women-drivers, most of them refugees from Germany, is reported to be organizing now in Tel Aviv.
