Dr. Chaim Weizmann, former president of the World Zionist Organization, will accept the presidency at the Zionist Congress opening here next Tuesday only on condition that he be given the right to choose a Zionist Executive in accordance with his own wishes, it was reported in Congress circles here today.
Meanwhile, preliminary conferences had ended and the delegates used the Sabbath for inter-factional conferences regarding Congress issues.
Dr. Weizmann’s demand was viewed here as harming his chances for election, especially in view of the fact that it is known that the Laborite Zionists, who are in the majority at the Congress, do not intend to accede to any such demand.
