A bill which would reorganize the present system of jurisdiction over the Jewish community in Turkey was introduced in Parliament today. Deputy Salomon Adato declared that under the present set-up, the Jews, as tell as other minority groups, suffer considerable hardships from the centralized Government authority which controls all synagogues, the Jewish hospital and other communal institutions.
Under the proposed measure, local committees elected by the Jews would be responsible for the administration of all communal matters. The Minister of Interior announced that he would make a thorough study of the proposal.
