Will Plan Expansion of Hebrew University

Sir Philip Hartog, former vice-chancellor of the University of Dacca, India, has arrived in Palestine where as chairman of the newly-appointed Survey Committee of the Hebrew University he will study the resources of the University and make preliminary plans for an expansion program. Word of Sir Philip’s arrival came to the American Friends of Hebrew University here yesterday.

Others who arrived in the Holy Land were Dr. Radcliffe N. Salaman another member of the survey group, and also director of the Potato Virus Institute at Cambridge University; Professor Louis Ginzberg, professor of the Talmud at the Jewish Theological Seminary, the American member of the commission, and Dr. Leo Kohn, secretary.

Meetings of the board of governors of the University will be held in February. Members planning to attend are Dr. Nathan Ratnoff, director of Beth Israel Hospital, chairman of the American Jewish Physicians Committee; Dr. Israel S. Wechsler, professor of neurology at Columbia and Arthur M. Lamport, member of the executive committee of the American Friends of Hebrew University.
