The Winnipeg, Manitoba, team won the debating tournament of A. Z. A., junior B’nai B’rith, in the sixth annual convention which closed here this week. Sol Kanee and Max Cohen composed the team. Second debating honors went to the Kansas City chapter, the debaters being Isidore Ninookin and Sidney Glaser.
Gorman Silen, representing the Oakland, Cal., chapter, won first place in the oratorical contest. Leo M. Cherne of Rehoboth Chapter of New York was second, and Arthur Magidson of Milwaukee third. The topic for the debate was “Resolved that it is to the best interests of the Jew that the British Mandate over Palestine be continued.” Winnipeg upheld the negative.
